A new agreement was reached between the Wcstland Timber Yards :-.na Sawmill Union of Workers ana the employers with reference to wages and working conditions for the West Coast sawmills, totalling 69, at a sitting of the Conciliation. Council today. Mr S. Ritchie presided. Agreement was reached on amended proposals at the last council sitting in Gieymoulh, making provision for the raising of the minimum wage from Us 6d to U'.s a day. Is a day increase for employees not on the minimum, and Is 6d a day increase for firemen Matters in dispute which will be referred to the ArD...atio:. Court, art' wages for box makers and employee? at cutting mills, whilst the Arbitration Court will also be asked to settle the question of the inclusion of motorlorry timber carters in the award.
