BETTING AND LOTTERIES
PURPOSE OF BRITISH BILL November 16, 7.5 p.m.) LONDON, November 15. The House of Lords to-day agreed to the amendment of the House of Commons to the Betting and Lotteries Bill. Lord Londonderry emphasised that although the citizen, as under the present law, would be able to send for ( ;hare a ticket in an Irish or other lottery, this would not give sweepstake promoters the right to flood the country with tickets. The bill represented a determination to restrict the flow of money to sweepstakes out of the country. The Government would take the necessary steps to achieve that object.
