ASSASSINATION OF A KING

FILM OF ALEXANDER'S DEATH One of the films of the assassination of King Alexander of Jugoslavia, at Marseilles, on October 9, which were smuggled out of the country, will be shown at three city theatres to-day. The film is the only copy in New Zealand, and was sent by air mail from England to Australia. The censor passed the film yesterday. The film shows the arrival of the King at Marseilles, the procession that was organised to meet him, the actual assassination, with the assassin running to the car and firing the shots, the indignation of the crowd, and the cutting down of the murderer. The him is a clear record of one of the most dramatic incidents in recent history, and shows in the fullest possible detail the whole episode. This copy was made by Paramount and will be shown at the Regent, the Tivoli, and the Majsitic. Its release in Christchurch is a tribute to the organisation of the concern responsible for its exhibition !»ere.

Praise for the singing of the Maori choir at the Whakarewarewa Mission was voiced by Dr. S. H. Nicholson, formerly organist and master of choristers at Westminster Abbey, when he visited Rotorua. The choir sang a number of hymns and anthems. Dr. Nicholson said he was greatly impressed with the number of good voices and wonderful blending of tone. Some of the hymns were sung really beautifully.
