SALE OP AUSTRALIAN ORANGES MONOWAI BRINGS FRESH SHIPMENT [THE PEESS Special Service.] WELLINGTON, November 12. As a result of a conference between Mr C. Mueller, representative of the Murray Citrus Growers' Association of South Australia and the Wellington Fruiterers' Association to-day, the retailers' boycott against Australian oranges has been terminated and a fresh shipment by the Monowai will be disposed of tomorrow morning. The situation last week was that the retailers were to be asked to dispose of the oranges that wers in cool store before being allowed to purchase those arriving by the Monowai. As those oranges in cool store were repacked and were by no means in the best condition, objection was raised by the fruiterers at this method of doing business. The matter has now been settled.

The manner in which orange importations have been managed this season is still a thing of mystery even to those connected with business. The only fruit allowed to land in New Zealand has been from one company of growers. Other South Australian growers have been asked to forward consignments, but hav2 replied that they cannot obtain the necessary permits to enable them to do so. Only a fortnight ago, however, the largest of prime oranges were selling in Sydney at 12 for Is and ordinary Valencias at 30 for 6d on the barrows.

It is understood that the first shipment this season of Jamaica oranges will arrive at Auckland by the Port Campbell on December 3 and at Wellington on December 6. She has, it is believed, some 8000 cases, actually only enough for one port. She will be followed by the Marama, which will arrive at Lyttelton on Christmas Day. Arrangements have been made for regular shipments of oranges from Jamaica for some five months to come, when the new island orange season will begin.
