"EVERYMAN"
RELIGIOUS PLAY TO BE PRESENTED The mediaeval morality play "Everyman," a swiftly moving drama based on the severely classical lines of the Greek tradition, which will be presented in Holy Trinity Church, Avonside, on December 11, 12, and 13, has been described as "the noblest interlude that the religious imagination-of the middle ages has given to the stage." In it is shown the symbolic figure of "Everyman," wealthy, prosperous and worldly, suddenly confronted by the relentless figure of "Death" and commanded to his reckoning before Almighty God. The play, which has the sanction of the bishop of the diocese, will be presented by a large cast of selected players with appropriate music and pageantry, and should make a wide appeal to the artistic and thoughtful population of the city.
