POSITION OF CROWN TENANT* (FBXSS U3OCI4.TIOH TEUGBAV.) DANNEVTRKE, November 12. Questioned to-day about the accuracy of allegations in some quarters that wholesale remissions of arrears of rent are being made lo Crown tenant*» throughout the Dominion, the Hon. E. A. Ransom, Minister for Land* said that the report was inaccurate. He said that a considerable amount, in remissions had been made, but re', missions were never granted until aft?r very careful consideration by the .land boards. ";. Before any remissions were mads they had also to be dealt with by t»s department and finally approved W himself as Minister. Each case w» . considered on its merits. UsuaUyi when a Crown tenant was unable to meet the payments, the postponements were allowed to accumulate and remissions were not granted until u" 8 approved by the Minister. In noany instances remissions had been refuse* Mr Ransom said that paymentSjivrent were now coming in most satisfactorily.
