ATTEMPT TO BLOW UP SHED AND TANKS

WELLINGTON, November 12 An attempt was made to blow up a large shed and two 1000-gallon tanks on Satuiday A charge of gelignite was placed mside one of the tanks which was shattered, and damage was none to the irame on which it stood Jhe shed escapect practically undamaged.
The owner of the property, Mr E and did not hear the explosion, which was probably deadened by the water * ie w as m the shed at 10.30 p.m., when everything was in order Before Mr J. L. Stout, S.M.. in the ftK s Court at Palmerston X° f 4°"i ay ' Leonard Charles Martin, «ged 37, described as a baker, of Foxton, was charged that, on November IU, at Foxton, he placed gelignite in a tank with intent to destroy the tank A second charge, withdrawn at the request of the police, was that accused committed mischief by wilfully damaging a tank, the property of Edwin Few. Accused was remanded to appear at Palmerston North on November 16.
