The recent influenza epidemic ai Auckland, which seriously depleted the stalls of business concerns and reduced school attendances, has novv abated, although some schools, especially those in the city area, still have pupils away. Whooping cough also is prevalent among children although the peak has now passed' "Both influenza and whooping cough have been very bad this vear," said a » 'mary school headmaster. "The influenza seemed to come in wa'*es. No sooner did one lot of pupils return to school thar another batch went down to the illness.
