TROTTING MANAGEMENT

TO TUB KDITOS OF THE PRESS. Sir,—At the conclusion of the three days' meeting of the New Zealand Metropolitan Club's spring meeting, no doubt the remark will be passed that the "management was perfect." But

I for one, and many others who complained yesterday, do not think so. When the enquiry was made in the apparent interference by Willow Wave with Real Burton the dividends were held back until the enquiry was finished. The holders of winning tickets were kept for more than half an hour standing in a queue outside the paywindows. I certainlv think some announcement should nave been made from one of the pay windows that the enquiry was being held and that paying out would be neld up for some indefinite time and patrons advised to make their investments on the next race. Many were shut out from so doing, as they certainly anticipated the next race would be held back. In consequence, disappointment was expressed very freely all round, and uncomplimentary remarks made in regard to the management. Could not some better arrangement be made on the lines suggested? A good many who were waiting to be paid out did not know an enquiry was being held.—Yours, etc.. WARBUOY. November 7, 1934. !.Mr W. H. MacDougall, who was in charge of totalisator arrangements at Addington, says the usual practice was adopted in the case of the enquiry. Holders of dividend-paying tickets were told the enquiry would take some time, and they were advised to make their investments on the following race.]
