"DAILY MAIL'S" RECORD ISSUE
On September 10 the London "Daily Mail" broke all records with the first 32-page issue to be published by. any national daily newspaper P"«J tea simultaneously in London and Manchester. This may seem to people who are used to big papers not much w make a fuss about from an editorial point of view, but it must be remembered that the "Mail" has to deal.wita a circulation of nearly 2,000,000, wiw all the mechanical and other difficulties attendant on such an issue. A prominent advertising agent said that according to his reckoning the issue represented the printing and publisning of 57,000,000 pages of editorial matter and advertisements. Messages of congratulation from prominent aavertisers hailed the Issue as a sure proof of returning prosperity. More than a quarter of the issue was aevoted to a knitting and needleworK contest, which must have meant some intensive work by the space-sellers.
