♦-. — CRICKET Playing against a Christchurch Tramways team on Saturday, afternoon, Lyttelton Miniature Rifles Cricket Club made 184 runs for nine; wickets, declared. Tramways made 96. The beat batsmen for Lyttelton were E. McCormick 44, J. Sowden 38, and T. Mills 24, a.id for Tramways Parker 47 and Cooke 15. Bowling for Lyttelton, L. Williams took three wickets for 18 runs, McCormick four for 22, and Whitford two for 27. Fire Brigade Dance The flannel dance held in the Excelsior Hall on Saturday evening in aid of the fund for sending a team from the Lyttelton Volunteer Fire Brigade to the competitions at Blenheim, attracted a large number of dancers, and an enjoyable evening was spent. Music was provided by Mr Jack Wyatt's orchestra, and several novelties were held. Armistice Observance There was no public observance at Lyttelton yesterday of the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice. At Holy Triniiy Church the morning service commenced at 10.30, and the two minutes' silence was observed from 11 o'clock. The service at St. John's Presbyterian Church commenced at 10.45, and after the usual observance at 11 o'clock the Rev. F. J. Tylee preached a sermon on "The Eclipse of Miracles." The Rev. W. Rowe was the preacher at the morning service at the Lyttelton Methodist Church, and the two minutes' silence was observed. There was a similar observance at St. Saviour's Church, West Lyttelton. During the progress of the ocean yacht race held by the Banks Peninsula Cruising Club the armistice was observed by the calling of the crews to attention at 11 a.m. and the halfmasting of the club burgees flown by the yachts.
