♦ FINANCE AND APPROPRIATION BILLS PASSED (,I'RESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, November 6. The Legislative Council met to-day and referred the Finance Bill to the Statutes Revision Committee. The Appropriation Bill was put through the remaining stages and passed. The Finance Bill (No. 3) was reported back from the Statutes Revision Committee without amendment. The Hon. W. H. Mclntyre said the reduction of totalisator tax was a step in the right directon, and would be a great help to the country clubs. The Hon. M. Fagan said he was opposed to granting a further £471 to the Poultry Board. Last year a limit of £SOO had been placed on the board's expenditure, but it had overstepped the mark, and was now asking to have its action validated.
The leader of the Council, the Hon. R. Masters, said the expenditure had been incurred by the board before the passing of last year's legislation. T'h.e bill was put through ail stages and passed.
