CITIZENSHIP OF FREE STATE

NEW GOVERNMENT BILL ALTERATION OF NAME PROPOSED RECIPROCAL PRIVILEGES WITH EMPIRE (UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION —BT ELECTBIO telegraph—cofibigbt.) (Received November 6, 11.20 p.m.) LONDON, November 6. The Government of the Irish Free State has issued the text of its Citizenship Bill, under which the title of "British subject" is abolished in favour of "citizen of the Irish Free State." Such a citizen, however, will be entitled to claim the privileges of British citizenship as long as the Free State is a member of the British Commonwealth. It is added that as long as Free State citizens enjoy the privileges of British citizenship outside the Free State, the Government in Dublin undertakes to provide all Empire citizens with similar privileges in the Free State. The Dublin correspondent of the "News-Chronicle" says that the bill has created surprise in Dublin, where its implications are not yet fully understood.
