"They've got a cheek," remarked Mr R. C. Burns, amid laughter when it was announced at the meeting of the management committee of the Canterbury Cricket Association last evening that the Umpires' Association had challenged the committee to a match on a date to be arranged. Members approved of the suggestion that such a match be held, and the challenge was accepted. The management committee should be able to field a fairly strong side, as its personnel includes a present New Zealand representative, a Canterbury representative, several senior players, and a number of leading cricketers of former days.
