THE PASTORAL INDUSTRY

Value of Exports With the exception of frozen mutton and tallow, the export figures of the Dominion for the year ended June 30, 1934, show a large increase over those of 1931, when prices were depressed. Measured by these statistics the value of New Zealand's sheep and beef cattle industry has grown by more than £9,000,000 — from £16,950,022 in 1931 to £26,161,477 this year. The difference between the two years is most striking in the figure for the export of wool, which this year is more than double that of 1931. The export of mutton, on the other hand, was greater by more than £400,000 in 1931, and tallow also by £12,000. The value of exports for the two years are compared in the following table: 1934 1931
