FILM VERSION In 1633, the village of gau, in Bavaria, was stricken.' by i terrible plague. On its cessation til# entire population made a sacred vow to God that they would every 10 year» perform the Passion Play depicting the life and death of Jesus Christ For exactly 300 years this'vow ha* been faithfully fulfilled, this year mart ing the tricentennial anniversary. 19 celebrate the three hundredth anniversary a special performance was arranged, which, it is claimed, is the best ever staged, mainly because of the greater maturity of those taking the parts and because Ober-AmmergaU lias now settled down after the Great War. A representation of this world* famous play has been made to celebrate the three hundredth anniversary. Every scene of the Life of Christ has been filmed upon its exact location in the Holy Land and Egypt. Perhaps more comprehensive than the stage version, it covers all the principal incidents of the New Testament story. Christ gives sight to the blind n® 1 and heals the paralysed. He raises the daughter of Jairus. Jesus walks on the sea of Galilee and He raises tn» dead Lazarus from the grave. ■ impressive, yet reverent, are tJ» scenes of the journey to Calvary. The film will be shown in Christchurch at the Radiant Hall, for a sea* son commencing to-morrow, with performances at 10.30 a.m., 2 p.m., and • p.m. The box plan is at the D.I.C.
