POLICE RAID HOUSE
® MANUFACTURE OF WHISKY ALLEGED A raid on the premises occupied by John Penberthy Bashford, in Leslies road, Hornby, was made by detectives J. McClung and A. Harding, Constable E. A. Dunn, and a customs officer, at seven o'clock yesterday morning. The party made a quick descent on the house, carried out a smart search, and it is alleged that they found there apparatus for the making of whisky, and also a quantity of the liquor. A police vehicle arrived soon after the raid and the apparatus and the liquor were taken away. . Bashford will appear at the Magistrate's Court this morning, to face a charge of having an unlicensed still in his possession.
