MAGISTRATE'S COURT

MONDAY (Before Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M.) DRUNKENNESS Harry Ernest Herbert, aged 53 years, pleaded guilty to a second offence of drunkenness within six months, and was fined 20s, in default 48 hours' imprisonment. Pleading not guilty to an alleged third offence of drunkenness within six months, Charles William McDonald, aged 46 years, of Havelock street, Avas remanded till to-day. Alfred James Massey, of Auckland pleaded guilty to a second offence of drunkenness within six months and was fined 20s, in default 43 hours' imprisonment. Watts)' was remanded till November 13 on a charge of committing incest.. GUILTY OF THEFT George Alexander Morris (Dr. A. L. Jtaslam; was charged with the theft of £2O Ps, and pleaded guilty. Chief-Detective W. H. Durilop said that accused had been employed to collect debts for a company, and that though he had received more than £4O, he had failed to account for £29 9s. Dr. Haslam said that Morris had been in business as an accountant for some time and had been employed to liquidate the accounts of a firm that had gone out of business. He was the sole support of a widowed mother. Morris was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called upon within two years, and to repay the £29 9s at the rate of five shillings a week.
