Association last evening. It was j one of the most representative j meetings of its kind ever held by j the association, and after a full dis- j cussion on the administration of | some of the local bodies in the city j the meeting pledged itself unani-j mouslv to stand behind the pro-' posals. ! The meeting was held in commit-: tee, but a statement made later in- j dicatcd that the discussion was of; vital interest to the citizens of Christchurch. It was stated that the meeting fully and frankly discussed the methods adopted in the administration 3.f various local bodies in Christchurch. An entirely new and progressive policy for the association was submitted and received warm approval, members offering their wholehearted support for furthering the effort of the association to carry out its proposals. ! it was also stated that if given i effect to the new policy will result in a substantial saving to the ratepayers in the very near future, and that it is confidently expected that the proposals will meet with a large measure of support from t'.ie citizens generally. At the meeting, at which Mr W. S Mac Gibbon presided, 70 new members were enrolled in the association. Another meeting of citizens will be held at a later date, when the new policy will be adopted finally by the association and made available for publication.
