ST. BEDE'S COLLEGE OLD BOYS
♦ ANNUAL REPORT Another successful year is recorded in the annual report to be presented to the annual meeting of the St. Bede's College Old Boys' Association on Sunday next. An increase of 40 is shown in the ordinary membership, which now stands at 361. The fete, sponsored by the association, resulted in more than £IOOO being given to the college. The first old boys' retreat, which was held in May, was attended by more than 40 members. Thanks are expressed to the Rev. Father Spillane, S.M., who conducted the retreat, and to the college for its hospitality. The silver jubilee of the rector of the college (the Rev. Father A. L. Burger, S M.) will be fittingly celebrated. The annual conference of Catholic clubs was a pronounced success, and the representatives of the association acquitted themselves with credit. Two informal luncheons were held during the year, about 20 members attending each. The debating branch of the association, too, has had a very successful year. The annual dinner and ball were the most successful yet. Reports from the various branches will be received at the annual meeting. The financial statement discloses a credit balance for the year of £7 14s 6d, and the assets are shown at £ll6 j x, grant of £3O has been made to the college for renovations.
