SOMERFIELD GALA AND SPORTS

GOOD, ENTRIES AND KEEN COMPETITION ! Good entries and keen competition marked the annual sports day and gala of the Somorfield School, which were held in the school grounds on Saturday afternoon. The proceedings were opened by Mr W. H. Winsor, in the absence of Mr E. J. Howard, M.P. The proceeds were for the children's prize and picnio fund. Side-ahows were well patronised. A musical programme was provided by the Stanmore Silver Band. The boys' championship was won by F. McDowell, W. Duggan being second; and the girls' by Freda Pascoe, with Joan Lamb runner-np. There was a good attendance of parents and friends, and some good sport was witnessed. In some events the finishes were very close, and dead-heats were numerous.
