WAIMAKARIRI HARBOUR BOARD
The Waimakariri Harbour Board met last night. Present—The chairman IMr R. F. Joyce), Messrs W. A. Young, J. Hirst, J. Bryden, J. A. Mealings, H. Rinaldi, and D. M. Ramsay. The Kaiapoi Beautifying and Progress Association wrote congratulating the board on the improvement made in beautifying the river banks. The secretary to the Marine Department, Wellington, wrote forwarding copies of general by-laws made under the Harbour Act dealing with motorlaunches. The by-laws were adopted. It was decided to bring them into force on December 1. 1934. The annual balance-sheet for the year ended September 30 was read and considered, and the chairman was I authorised to sign it for the board, I The financial statement showed reI ceipts since last meeting £154 5s 2d,
credit bank balance £94 14s Id. Accounts passed for payment totalled £IOB 8s 4d. It was decided that the board cooperate with the Waimakariri River Trust in arranging for unemployed labour to work on the north spit at flood time with a view to putting the river through at the concrete blocks.
