There are 42 entries in the Centenary open, amateur, and professional golf championships, including the New Zealand professionals George Watt, N. H. Fuller, John Lambie, and A. J, Shaw. One New Zealand amateur was not accepted because he is on a two handicap. The meeting will open on November 15 and entries close on October 22. AMERICAN PLAYERS IN TOURNAMENT HORTON SMITH BEATS CRAIG WOOD . (Received October 15, 8.20 p.m.) NEW YORK, October 14. After leading during the first two rounds, Craig Wood faltered in the two final rounds to-day and was placed second in the Louisville (Kentucky) open golf tourney, in which all members of the Centenary professional team participated. Horton Smith won with 286 for 72 holes. Wood scored 289, Densmore Shute 294; K. Y. Laffoon, and Paul Runyan 298 each, and Leo Diegel and Cooper 300 each.
HANMER SPRINGS CLUB A Canadian foursome was played by the Hanmer Springs Golf Club during the week-end. Because of weather conditions only a small number of players took part. A number of competitions were played and afternoon tea was served in the pavilion. The "season has been a very successful one. Mr H. Carlton, who some weeks ago holed out in one, accomplished the feat again on Thursday, when he holed out at the home hole in one.
