DEFICIENCY DISEASES IN STOCK
v CONFERENCE WITH SIR ARNOLD THEILER (From Our Parliamentary Reporter.! WELLINGTON, October 15. Advantage is to be taken of the visit to New Zealand of Sir Arnold Theiler, the eminent South African veterinary scientist, to secure his advice on certain deficiency diseases in stock.
The Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes) said to-night that workers on iodine deficiency in its relation to public and animal health were to have conference with Sir Arnold Theiler. Professor C. E. Hercus (professor of bacteriology in the University of Otago), and officers of the Department of Health, the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, and of the Canterbury Agricultural College and Massey Agricultural College, would be present. At another session, work on bush sickness and allied deficiency diseases would be discussed.
Since his arrival in New Zealand, Sir Arnold Theiler has conferred with Government officers, and has visited the agricultural colleges and the Cawthron Institute.
