METHVEN PAROCHIAL DISTRICT Under the auspices o£ the vestry of the Mothveu parochial district, the annual spring flower show was held in the Town Hall. The variable season experienced had the effect 6f spoiling many of the exhibits and in consequence the show was not up to the usual high standard. However, the exhibits that were forward were of "a good quality. A special exhibition stand ol naricssi from Mr Stanley Smith was of outstanding quality and received a certificate of merit. Mr TV. Balch (Christchurch) had a very choice exhibit of blooms for which he was also awarded a. certificate of merit. Support to the home industries section was poor, both in adult and juvenile sections. There was, however, an outstanding exhibit of marzipan fruit 3 by the Rev.. TV. E. Moore, and it was awarded a certificate of merit. In conjunction with the show there were the usual stalls for the sale of sweets, produce, pot plants, etc. Those in charge | of the various stalls were: —Sweets: Misses Sliona and Thelma Manger and Olive Watson. Pot plants: Mesdames A C. "Watson find J. F. Stone. Cakes: Mesdames A. C. Gadd, TV. Cook, O. Syme. and L. C. Anderson. Luncheon: Me.«dames J. Kilworth, A. G. Hepburn, O. TV. Amberger, with the Anglican Bible classes and helpers. A sheep guessing competition was won by/Mr t>. Gay.
