ROWING
UNION CLUB'S ANNUAL I REPORT A satisfactory year in the standard of its rowing is recorded in the sixtyeighth annual report of the Union Rowing Club. The financial position of the club is till sound, the report says, but the membership is greatly below what it should be. The club was represented at the Akaroa, Christchurch, Kaiapoi, and Wellington regattas, with some sue-
cess, particularly in the youth and maiden classes. The Union Club won the D.C.L. cup awarded for most points at regattas held in Canterbury and tied with the Canterbury Ciub for the head-of-the-rivcr banner. The form and enthusiasm displayed throughout the season gives good promise for the future, the report says. The active membership is 53, with 12 honorary members. This figure is practically the same as last year. All the club's boats are in fairly good order, but additions to the fleet will demand attention in the near future. Congratulation are extended to C. A. Cooper, who was a member of the Canterbury crew at llie interprovineial eight-oar championship of New Zealand, and thanks are expressed to all who have assisted the club.
