AUGUST 31 • Before his Honour Mr Justice Johnston. 1 * A decree nisi, to be moved absolute after three months, was granted Harold Transvaal McGrath. a machinist, of Christchurch (Mr It. A. Young), who petitioned for divorce from Nina Elizabeth Victoria McGrath, of Ashburton. on the grounds of misconduct, Francis Spargoe Nicholls, a painter, of Ashburton, being named as co-respondent. The case was adjourned at a previous hearing for the petitioner to obtain additional witnesses who could not be located at the time. Custody of the youngest child was given to the petitioner. MAGISTRATE'S COURT FRIDAY 'Before Mr E. D. Mosley, S.MJ BREACH OF PROBATION Leonard Giles Mashlan. aged 21, of Abberlcy road (Dr. A. L. Haslam*. pleaded guilty to breach of probation, lie was ordered to be detained in the Borstal Institution at Waikeria for two years. The probation officer said tiiat Mashlan had been admitted to probation for two years on a charge of fcrgcry on November 14, 1932. He had not reported since August o last, and there was need lor strict supervision over him. R was a typical case for institutional control. THEFT OF TROUSERS Lawrence Henry Whitley, aged 2] years, of Yaldhurst road, was sentenced to three months' imprisonment on a charge of stealing a pair of trousers valued at £1 ss, the property of Andrew Harvey. Chief-Detective W. 11. Dunlop said that accused had been employed by Mr Harvey as a rouseabout. He hud disappeared from his work, and complainant had later found that a pair of trousers had disappeared also. Accused admitted the theft when interviewed, and said that he took the trousers because he had no others to wear, but this statement had been proved incorrect. TRAFFIC CASES Offenders against traffic by-laws were fined as follows: Cycling at night without light: Keith Minson, 15s and costs; Thomas Johnston Morrow, las and costs; Rayner Vile, 15s and costs: Ivan Burton, 10'; and costs; Leo Callan, 10s and costs; Francis John Campbell. 10s and cosls; Hilda Taylor, 5s without costs.
