Miss Rutherford put her approach down the bank to the left of the green, her » ran across the green, and her tuuith Lung on the lip or the cup. stymieing her opponent, who was three feet mm Ihe pin in three. Then Miss WhiteParsons's error of judgment cost hti ihe hole. Instead of playing safe tor « half she played for the hole and put her opponent in for lour while her own ball cannoned off. Miss Rutherford followed up her advantage by ■winning the third hole in three I o tour. Then Miss White-Parsons fought bacK After a good drive at Land's End and a fair second, Miss Rutherford put her third almost against the fence to the left of the green, but returning stymied her opponent. But Miss WhiteParsons made no mistake this time. She won applause from the .following crowd when with her mashie she chipped over her opponent's ball into Hie hole, and reduced her leeway to two down. Playing carefully, she won •ihe fifth in five to six. At the sixth Miss Rutherford found the ditch with her second, while Miss White-Par-sons's third sat on the long grass on the edge, enabling her to win the hole ■with a well-judged approach and one putt. With the match square, Miss White-Parsons won Nor'-West with a birdie three to her opponent's four, but lost the next 6-5. At Crossways, from a poor tee shot, Miss Rutherford put her approach within a few feet ot the pin and won the hole m three. making her one up at the turn.* Miss Rutherford was out-driving Miss White-Parsons, but did not seem to be on the best of terms with her mashie. while Miss White-Parsons was approaching and putting accurately. Shewon the tenth, halved the eleventh, and lost the twelfth, where Miss Rutherford had a fine drive and holed out ■in four. Faulty putting by Miss Rutherford allowed her opponent to square the match at Old Nick. At; Shirley Miss Rutherford drove to the edge of the creek, and holing out in four, was again one up. She fluffed a short approach at the fifteenth, and lost the hole, but won the sixteenth in five, after steering an erratic course near ■the fairway of Shirley. Miss Rutherford lost her advantage at the seventeenth, which she played badly. Miss White-Parsons winning the hole m five. The eighteenth was halved in fours, leaving the players all square. Miss Rutherford won the twentieth, halved the twenty-first and twenty-second, and lost Farthest North, where the match was once more square. At Mairehau Miss WhiteParsons scored a birdie four to her opponent's five, but lost her advantage by a lapse on the green at Nor'-West, At Terra Nova Miss White-Parsons't drive landed under the trees on the right and it cost her four to reach the green, letting Miss Rutherford win the hole. Crossways was halved in three* and Miss Rutherford was 1 up at the turn. The next two holes were halved and Miss Rutherford increaser 1 her lead at the Pines with a wellplayed four. At Old Nick, Miss White-Parsons failed with her tee shot and again at Shirley her drive landed near the trees on the right Miss Rutherford profited by her opponent's mistakes and won Old Nici in three and Shirley in four, making her dormie 4.
