BEAUTIFUL GARDENS
HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY'S COMPETITIONS Conditions for the 1934 garden competitions are announced in the latest issue of the "City Beautiful," the org? 11 of the Canterbury Horticultural Society. Entries will be free, but will be confined to members of the society. Several important alterations oaV# been made in the conditions this ye® l ! and also in the dates of judging. . The home gardens section will " judged twice during the season, in to last week in October, and the secona week in February. There will be tnrw classes, in this section—for gardens « not more than a quarter of an acre, gardens of area not restricted, limited amount of employed laoou. and gardens with area and amount labour unrestricted. The hill gard _ competition will be judged about third week in November, to classes, and the rock gardens about middle of October. The competitions for factory and railway gardens also be repeated. Several handso special trophies will be awafdeti.
