The world's largest mental hospital is under: construction at Long Island, New York. It will have accommodation for 8000 patients, and an operating staff of 1500 physicians, nurses, attendants, and other employees. It is expected to be completed in nine months' time, and its total cost will be almost £6,000,000. A central diningroom and kitchen are provided for each 1500 inmates. Tunnels connect the various units in a group.
