FUNERAL
♦ MR HENRY WHITE The funeral of Mr Henry White, who died at his residence in Fendalton road on Monday, at the age of 98 years, took place at the Papanui churchyard yesterday morning. Mr White arrived in Lyttelton by the ship Bangalore in 1851, and for the first " part of his life worked on farms with his father. Later he went down to the goldfields in Central Otago, but returned to his father's farm near Lin- • coin. There he remained for 25 years, and later spent three years at Tai Tapu, whence he retired, and settled in Christchurch. The chief mourners were Miss . White, Mrs Millar, Mrs J. Kettle, Mrs ' George Steel, Mrs Albert Hunt (daughters), and Mr Ernest White (son), Mrs T. Harris (daughter) and her son, Mr H. Harris. A short service was conducted at the house by the Rev. Otho FitzGerald, whose father used to own Spring Station, whero Mr White once worked. The same minister also conducted the service at the graveside. The pall-bearers both at the house and graveside were: Messrs A. C. Harris, J. Lawlor, W. Berry, J. Kettle, P. Berry, and A. Hunt. Wreaths were sent by the following: -—The daughters, the sons, sons-in-law, Sarah, Mary and Walter, ladies of Quamby, Mr and Mrs H. Mortlock. Miss Dunnage, Mrs Hunnibell and Daphne, Fred, Chris, and boys, granddaughters, Mary, Emma, and Dora, Winfleld family, Mr and Mrs G. Clements, Mr and Mrs Selwyn, nurse Mary and wee Allan, G. Steel and taroily. Mr and Mrs Millar and family, Mr and Mrs Richfield and family, • Mrs Topp, Miss Hooper, Mr J. Gough ana Mrs Ferran, nieces and nephews at Barretta street, Floss, Allan, and Ruby.
