FUNERALS

MR JOHN ANDERSON The funeral of Mr John Anderson, which was held yesterday, was very largely attended, the cortege including representatives of all classes of the community. Many public and semipublic bodies and many firms were represented, beside private individuals, and a large number of members of the staffs of the firm of Andersons, Ltd. Before the cortege left for the Addington Cemetery, a service was conducted by the Rev. Alan C. Watson in the garden of Mr Anderson's house, "Inveresk," in Armagh street west. Mr Watson also officiated at the simple ceremony at the graveside. The chief mourners were Mrs John Anderson, Miss D. Anderson, Mr and Mr:; Jack Anderson, Mrs J. A. A. Morris, Mr and Mrs H. Kitson, and Mr F. W. Anderson. The pall-bearers at the house were Messrs H. Evans, P. Burns, J. Clarke, E. C. Strecter. A. Henry, and H. Beken. At the graveside the pall-bearers were Messrs R. Sinclair, G. A. Pascoe, H. Robinson. F. Lawrence, S. Aichison, and J. Tower. All the pall-bearers were employees of Andersons, Ltd. KI-SOUI'JON OF SYMPATHY A meetin;; of the Canterbury College Council, held yesterday afternoon, passed a resolution of sympathy with the relatives of Mr John Anderson. The chairman, Mr C. T. Asehman. said that Mr Anderson had been a member of the council from 189*1 to 11197. He moved the resolution, which was seconded by Mr H. D. Acland. A motion of sympathy with the relatives of Mr Anderson was passed by the Christchurch Tramway ,>oard at its meetin;; yesterday. COLONEL J. STIJDHOLME Many personal friends and representatives of the wide range of interests with which Lieutenant-Colonel John Studholme, C.8.E., D.5.0., was connected, paid their Inst tributes to his memory yesterday morning, when his funeral procession left "Middleton Grange," Upper Kiccarton, for St. Peter's Church.
