HUGE CROWD DISPERSED NO SERIOUS DISORDERS IN AMERICA (Received May 2, 7.15 p.m.) NEW YORK, May 2. In practically all large cities in tho Western Hemisphere radical labour elements observed May Day, but with the exception of a gun battle in Havana no serious disorders were reported. In New York the socialists and the ' communists held separate parades, the police keeping them apart. The trouble in Havana started when a sniper from the top of a building fired on a parade of 10,000 communist workmen, some of whom returned the fire. Troops then dispersed the mob with ma-chine-guns and gas bombs. No one is known to have been killed, but many were injured.

LITTLE TROUBLE IN CANADA ONE HARMLESS BOMB EXPLOSION

(Received May 2, 5.5 p.m.) I VANCOUVER, May 1. Police restrictions and a ban on demonstrations resulted in a quiet May Day throughout Canada. Five thousand took part in an orderly communist parade at Winnipeg. At Vancouver, during the night vandals painted the Cenotaph with the slogan "Down with Fascism." At Toronto the house of a Ukrainian anti-communist priest was bombed, but no one was injured. MOSCOW CELEBRATIONS DISPLAY OF MILITARY POWER MOSCOW, May 1. While 40,000 troops filed past in Red square in celebration of May Day, 552 aeroplanes, including 165 speedy bombers, manoeuvred overhead. M. Stalin took the salute from the top of Lenin's tomb. M. Georgi Dimitroff, who was acquitted at the Reichstag fire trial, was the guest of honour. Many banners were inscribed "Down with Japanese Imperialism."

FEW ARRESTS IN TOKYO TOKYO, May 1. May Day passed quietly. Thousands of representatives of Labour, separated into Rightists and Leftists, demonstrated at Tokyo under strong police precautions. There were a few arrests.

ANARCHISTS ARRESTED IN SPAIN MADRID, May 1. The police arrested a number of dangerous anarchists, who are charged with attempting to organise demonstrations on May Day. The police charged the crowds, numerous casualties being caused.
