In his country retreat in France, Jean Rostand, the naturalist, has been studying for years the habits of that somewhat repulsive creature, the toad, and, realising that it is greatly maligned, has written a book, "Toads and Toad Life," as an effort towards reparation. Jean Rostand, who is forty years old, is a son of Edmond Rostand, the author of "Cyrano de Bergerac."
