CIIANGK OF PLANS TO <.;o IO Al SIR A I.IA FIRST A letter received recenljy by the Dominion Chief Commissioner of boy scout:-. Dr. P. Clcnncll Fcnwiek, from the Chief Guide, Lady BadcnIWcll, conveys the information th;il the p];ms of the Chief Scout, Lord Baden-Powell, find the Chief Guide for their visit 1o New Zealand have; boon altered because of the recent illness of the Chief Scoot. Originally they intended to reach New Zealand first, and go on to Australia to attend the big boy scouts' jamboree, which is to be part of the Melbourne, centenary celebrations; it has now been decided that they will lirsl attend the jamboree and then come on to New Zealand, ft. is understood that the Chief Scout, while in Ihe Dominion, will do some fishing, a spoil he was unable to enjoy on his previous visit because of his many engagements relating to the boy scout movement. On their coming visit to New Zealand Lord and Lady Baden-Powell will be accompanied by their two daughters.
Lord Hailea-Powell's Plans The letter from the Chief Guide, which is dated, London, February 21, expresses thanks for all flic kind enquiries received regarding the health of the Chief Seoul. "I am at last, able to say." Lady BadenPowell wrote, "that ho is really out of the wood and making splendid progress towards complete recovery. The doctors arc confident that eventually he will be belter than ever. He has to have a long convalescence and freedom from work for at least six months. •'We have had to alter our plans for our world tour and turn it the other way round in order to fit in with this enforced convalescence. The proposed plan is now that we shall go direct to Australia in November, 1934. arriving there in time for the jamboree, and that we shall then come to New Zealand in January, 1935, for a few weeks. I do hope that this pushing on the date two months will not make any real dilierence to your people. It will have the great advantage, from our point of view, of giving the Chief Scout six weeks complete rest and sea voyage before he does anything at ail. After leaving New Zealand he will go on to Canada and Newfoundland, and do the trip, which originally he proposed to do, this time."
