* SOCIAL EVENING A successful "hard-up" social was held in the Methodist Sunday Schoolroom in lid of the circuit funds. Mr Armitage presided over a large gathering of church adherents and friends. The evening was spent in games and competitions. Misses Mary i isher and Joan Salkeld were the winners of tlu: best "hard-up" costumes, and competitions were won by Misses T. Craig, P. Thwaites, P. Orchard, and Master I. Reid. Songs were sung by Miss Ira Baynes. choruses by the Bible class girls, and a playette was given by Misses I. Robinson, V. de la Mare, and I. Baynes. The Rev. A. Card Evenings There was a good attendance at the •'flag 500" evening organised by the Pananui .Horticultural Society.
