* SOCIAL EVENING A successful "hard-up" social was held in the Methodist Sunday Schoolroom in lid of the circuit funds. Mr Armitage presided over a large gathering of church adherents and friends. The evening was spent in games and competitions. Misses Mary i isher and Joan Salkeld were the winners of tlu: best "hard-up" costumes, and competitions were won by Misses T. Craig, P. Thwaites, P. Orchard, and Master I. Reid. Songs were sung by Miss Ira Baynes. choruses by the Bible class girls, and a playette was given by Misses I. Robinson, V. de la Mare, and I. Baynes. The Rev. A. Hopper thanked the organisers, the .voun«j women's Bible clashes?, for tbeir cmoii. Card Evenings There was a good attendance at the •'flag 500" evening organised by the Pananui .Horticultural Society. The winners were Mesdanies Wilson, Symc, Biggs, Spiers, Co'odcn. and Mr pierera. , . At the euchre tournament lu Ui o\ the Advance Northcote Association Jhe winners were Mrs Harding and Mr H. Lange. Northcolo Items The Papauui School Old Cricket Club has done well lor the frst season in the competition. It-e third grade B team was runner-up m the competition, with !h points. \\ ith Templcton only four points ahead.
