HOTELKEEPING AND FUNERAL UNDERTAKING
♦ It has been frequently stated recently that the licensed victualling trade in New Zealand is not as pros»perous as it might be. and it is possible that there is a hint as to how\ matters might be improved in an ad-4 vertisement that appeared in theA "Down Recorder," of January 6, 193 M,; published at Downpatrick. Ireland. It , refers to the Railway Hotel, the pro v prictor of which is P. J. Kelly, and < after thanking patrons for support m ; the past, announces: "Funeral under- j taking. Having secured the services: of a competent man, he is in a posi-; tion to supply coffins, shrouds, and all j funeral requisites at vfery moderate prices. Up-to-date hearses and carriages with a stud of black horses, j supplied on shortest notice. Motorhearses for long journeys." Tlie Christchurch resident who handed the copy of the "Down ißecorder" to a reporter remarked that the Irish publicans are evidently very wide awake.
