An earlier message from Wash- [ ington stated that the President intervened in the railway and auto- ■ mobile labour disputes, calling for a delay of strike action in the automobile industry pending conferences of the manufacturers and union leaders with him to reconcile the existing difficulties. Mr V». Green, leader of the American Federation of Labour, immediately urged the union leaders to accept. The President also warned the railway disputants that it might be necessary for him to appoint a commission of enquiry. Meanwhile the Federal Government has filed an equity su.. against the Weirton Steel Company alleging violations of the National Recovery code, particularly the labour provisions. Other labour difficulties reached a climax to-day in Philadelphia, whore a boycott caused the collapse of the supervised union elections at the Budd Manufacturing Company's plant to determine the union representatives for the purpose of collective bargaining. The Governor, Mr W. Langer, has proclaimed a moratorium cm the obligations of business men to their creditors. The moratorium, which expires on Julv 15, declares it. unlawful to levy on or attach tor debt any slock, merchandise, shop equipment, furniture, or fixtures. The Governor also declared it unlawful to oust the owner Irom his farm until he had full opportunity to secure the benefits of the Act of Congress relating to the refinancing of farms.
