HOME SERVICE ASSOCIATION

i Mrs J. K. Archer presided at the ! monthly meeting of the committee ot i the Hcirte Service Association. There i were also present Mesdames H. L. j Bowker. W. F. Tait, A. R. Bloxam. and ! A. E. Kincaid, and Misses R. Gilmour and Amy Bowker. Mrs Bowker referred to the departure from Christchurch of Mrs C. do Pass, a member of the committee. It was decided to send a letter of thanks to Mrs cle Pass for the work she had done for the association. Votes of thanks were passed to Mrs Bowker, Miss Bowker. and Miss Wilkie for their work in organising the coin party held at the home of Mrs D. F,. Hansen, Opawa. A letter will be sent to Mrs Hansen thanking her for her kindness in lending her home for the afternoon. April 26 was fixed as the date for the annual meeting, to be held in the Young Men's Christian Association Hall. PLUNKET SOCIETY KIRWEE SUB-BRANCH : The monthly meeting of the Kirwee sub-branch of the Plunket Society was held in the hall, with Mrs Selby presiding. Others present were Nurse Finlayson, Mesdames F. Johnston, Penney, Coffey, Stott, R. V/ilson, KeitTvdy, Brown, Burleigh, Gillman, D. Smith, and W. Irvine. Nurse Finlayson gave a talk on measles. Arrangements were reported to be | well in hand for the "bring and buy" j sale to be held in the hall 011 Saturday afternoon, and for a dance at night. j EVENING TARTY At her home in Westminster street, St. Albans, Mrs G. McDougall gave a "kitchen" evening pavty. in honour of her sister, Miss Joan Craig, whose marriage will take place next week. Those present included Mr and Mrs George McDougall, Mr and Mrs W. McKenzie, Mr and Mrs C. Brown, Mr and Mrs K. le Cren, Mr and Mrs MacKenzie, Misses Joan Craig, Peggy Craig, Eileen Clements, Eileen McNeal. Marjorie Clements. Messrs Jack Hunter, V. G. Spiller, J. Doleman, P. Heaney, and C. BeUvorthy. NORTH BEACH TEMPERANCE UNION The monthly meeting of the North Eeach branch of the Women's Christian Temperance Union was held on Tuesdav. Mrs A. Florence presided. Mr S. G. Goring led the devotions, and Mrs Ramsay gave the scientific fact. Mrs S. Aston, who has just returned from a visit to Invercargill, conveyed greetings from the Invercargill branch of the union. It was decided to try to reopen the Band of Hope, and to ask the Rev. E. W. Grigg to be president of the band. The invitation of Mrs Pepprill (Marriott's road) to hold the April meeting at her home was accepted. The meeting is to take the form of a garden party. Mesdames Ramsay and A. Henry read interesting extracts. A recitation I was given by Sirs Lawson. <;IFT PARTY To honour Miss Ivy Gainsford. of Oxford, whose marriage will take place at Easter, a number .of her Christchurch friends gathered at the heme of Mrs C. Gilchrist (St. Albans). East of the guests brought a gift for the guest of honour and made an cntrv in her recipe-autograph book. Two amusing competitions were held, and musical items were enjoyed. Those present were Mrs C. Gainsford and Miss Ivy Gainsford (Oxford), Mesdames A. Gainsford, W. French (Maheno), W .Reynolds, C. Gilchrist, J. Stephen, L. Parke, Misses N. Gainsford, S. Reynolds, K.
