FIERCE RIOTING IN SPAIN

Big Strike in Madrid IMPORTANT PORT PARALYSED (Received February 13, 10.40 p.m.) MADRID, February 13. Fierce rioting as the result of a strike called as a protest against Bilbao, Spain's most important port, tour were wounded. The police uiso charged a land workers' demonstration at Gerona. A dance hall m San Sebastian was bombed and the windows smashed. Thirtv thousand workers in Madrid have struck.

It appears that the Government, working on the old plan that it is unsafe to attack Socialists in Vienna until they are defeated elsewhere, first attempted to rout them at Linz. The Government has seized the Vienna Town Hall, which for lf> years has been the headquarters of Vienna's Socialist municipal administration. It is reported that 26 were killed and 200 injured at Graz. The Government is making strenuous efforts to prevent civil war developing throughout the country. Meanwhile severe fighting has reopened in Vienna. The police and the Heimwehr have completely severed communication in the working-class districts, and have also surrounded the ■ municipal workers' flats, in which Socialists are barricaded.
