TRAMWAY TRAFFIC STAFF

♦ APPEALS OF DISRATED MEN The hearing by the Christchurcii Tramway Appeal Board of the appeals lodged on behalf of 29 members of the traffic staff of the Christchurch Tramway Board, is to take place on Wednesday, February 21. The appeal board consists of Mr H. A. Young, S.M. (chairman), Mr W. Hay ward (representing the board), and Mr J. A. Webb (representing the union). The grounds of the appeal are that the appellants were not guilty of anything which would justify the board in disrating them, and that they received no notice of an intention to disrate them, and that they did not have the opportunity to answer any charges made against them. The defence of the board, il i» understood, will be that the men were disrated as a result of a policy decision of the board, and not as a punishment. Mr C. S. Thomas lodged the appeals on behalf of the men. Mr J. DHutchison is the solicitor to the board.
