Auckland—Heavy rain continued falling yesterday until the middle of '.he morning, wlii-n it ceased, and the sky cleared rapidy. Fine weather prevailed in the afternoon, with a northeasterly breeze. The rainfall since 9 a.m. on Saturday was 3.8(5 inches. The barometer was rising in the evening. Wellington—The weather yesterday was cloudy and humid, with an occasional very light drizzle. The temperature rose considerably during the afternoon, which was distinctly sultry. A moderate south-easterly breeze continued to blow. The maximum temperature was 69 degrees, and at 4 p.m. it was 66.4. Dunedin —A north-cast wind and fine, sunny weather prevailed yesterday. The maximum temperature was 72 decrees. A shallow depression is advancing across Ihe South Tasman Sea. Seas—New Zealand waters: Rather rough on the east coast and in the Cook Strait area, elsewhere smooth lo moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea—Light lo modcrate, variable winds, smooth to moderate seas. Weather—Cloudy to overcast, and sultry, with mist or fog in places. Fairly general rain over the North Island, and some heavy falls and thunder in places.
