GROUND CONSECRATED
CEREMONY AT W'AI.MAIKI CEMETERY An extension of the Church of England plot in the Waimairi Public Cemetery in Graham's road was consecrated by the Bishop of Cbristchurch yesterday afternoon. The ceremony was attended by a fan- number of the parishioners of St. Barnabas Church, including some members of the choir, who were robed. At the entrance gate to the cemetery, the vicar of St. Barnabas, the Rev. F. B. Redgrave, read the petition from himself and the vestry of the church, asking the Bishop to consecrate the ground. All present took part in a procession round the ground, during which Psalms No. 16 and No. 102 were recited. Canon J. de B. Galwey, the Bishop's Chaplain, read the sentence of consecration, after which the Bishop, in the following words used in the special form of service, performed the actual consecration: "By virtue of our sacred office, in the Church of God, we do now consecrate and set apart from all profane and common uses this ground, to be the resting place of them that sleep."
