Di. 1. Fletcher Telford, Medical Officer oi Health, wrote to the Heathcote County Council that consequent on a rearrangement of departmental inspectors serving the county, Inspector M. Hall would be relieved of all duty in the countv as from February 12, and the whole of the work would be carried out bv Inspector M. E. Bettel. At its meeting last night the council decided to reply regretting Mr Hall's removal and expressing the council's appreciation of the good work done by MiHall for the department in the county. It was also decided to write to Mr Hall thanking him for the tactful manner in which he had discharged his duties.

Mr W. A. Bodkin, M.P., returned to the South Island by the Wahin* yesterday morning. The Hon. G. J. Smith, M.L.C.. arrived from Wellington yesterday morning.

Mr Louis Blundell arrived in Christchurch from the north by the Wahine yesterday. Dr. Fulton was among the passengers to the South Island by the Wahine yesterday morning. Mr A. L. Macfarlane was a pas-r-cnger for Wellington by the steamer express last evening. He will spend the week-end in Wellington.

Dr. Fong Sec, who will visit New Zealand shortly in the interests Ox Rotary International, is a devoted member and leader of both the Shanghai Young Men's Christian Association and the national executive committee of the movement. He has represented the association at several interaational conferences, and is particularly anxious during his visit to New Zealand to meet as many association leaders as possible.
