NEW ZEALAND TROUT

ATTRACTION TO ANGLERS NEED FOR ADVERTISING IN AMERICA Los Angeles had been built with "tourist money" and judicious advertising of New Zealand in California would bring some of that money across the Pacific, Mr Norman Bell, a resident of Los Angeles. told a representative of "The Press" last evening. Mr Bell, who was born at Dunedin, has lived in America for 20 years, and his wife and two daughters, who are travelling with him, are all natives of California. Evidently the money spent on advertising New Zealand's attractions was being spent in Australia and England, Mr Bell said, because therewas a lamentable lack of information regarding New Zealand in the United States. The only advertising done in California was by the Matson Shipping Company. "There is a very friendly leeling towards New Zealand in the United States," Mr Eell said, "but it is the other way round here. It is a pity, because the United States could help New Zealand." Tourists visited California because of the climate enjoyed there, and as New Zealand was only a short distance away by steamer, advertising there would attract travellers who would spend a considerable amount of money. New Zealand offered facilities for trout fishing that could not be found in America, or possibly anywhere else in the world. American anglers became excited if they caught what would be an average sized trout in New Zealand, and many more would come to the Dominion for the lishing if they knew of it.
