A meeting of about 100 members ol the Auckland Drivers' Union unanimously passed a resolution recording their "refusal to participate in any war that may break out at any time in the near future." The opinion was expressed by members, among whom was a number of returned soldiers, that there was general dissatisfaction over the delay with respect to disarmament conferences. They had been held for the last 16 years but nothing definite had been done. ART UNION PROCEEDS MANY APPLICATIONS (ritE33 ASSOCUTIOK TE.'.r.ORAH.I WAtTANGI, February 7. Applications for participation in the proceeds of art unions have continued tc pour in to the Internal Affairs Department, according to a statement made by the Hon. J. A. Young. The Minister mentioned that there were 500 applications on the waiting list and these included about 1 a score from organisations which, having raised funds for the improvement of educational areas, were? seeking subsidies. MILITARY TRAINING AT WEST CHRISTCHURCH # Boys of the secondary department of the West Christchurch District High School began their annual period of military barracks yesterday in the schoolground and in Hagley Park. About 300 cadets are receiving training, which will be continued until Friday, under the charge of Lieutenant: F. L. Davis. The. programme includes infantry drill, physical training, and musketry, and every afternoon a route march of about two miles and a half will be held. , The boys will be inspected on Thursday afternoon by Major W. K. I. Jennings, Provost in charge of Regimental District No. 10.
