THE ROYAL VISIT
INVITATION TO H.R.H. PRINCE GEORGE HAKBOUR BOARD'S ACTION A decision to forward through the Governor-General (Lord Bledisloe) an invitation to 1i.R.11. Prince George, during his visit to New Zealand, to visit Lyttelton and Canter- i bury was made at the meeting of the Lyttelton Harbour Board yesterday. Mr W. G. Gallagher, chairman of the board, reported to the meeting as follows:—"We have all received with pleasurable anticipation the recent news that his Excellency Uu: Governor-General has conveyed to j his Royal Highness Prince George an invitation to visit New Zealand. I would suggest that this board asks the Governor-General to convey to his Royal Highness a most cordial invitation to visit Lyttelton and Canterbury, and to assure him of a warm and loyal welcome. "We do not know yet what vessel will convey his Royal Highness to New Zealand waters, but we can assure him that H.M.S. Renown, which carried the Prince of Wales, was safely berthed in the inner harbour."
