REICHSTAG FIRE TRIAL
* FATE OF VAN J)ER MJBBE NOT SETTLED TOUGLKR SENT TO CAMP 'LONDON, December 27. x Th'j "Daily Express" correspondent at Leipzig says: '•I-Iow much longer is this going to last?" asked van der Lubbc of his prison warder, who replied telling van der Lubbe of the request of the Dutch Government, for commutation of his sentence, which will postpone the decision regarding his sentence for at least a fortnight. The result of the Dutch intervention is problematical, as German law requires llio prisoner lo make the request, but van der Lubbe lemains ■ilent. It semes unlikely that he will be hanged. Van der Lubbe dejectedly pushed away a slice of Christmas cake which !he warder had brought to the condemned cell. . Hcrr Ernst Torgler will oe sent f o a concentration camp. _ I-lerr Torgler's wife has given Dr. Alfons Sack, her husband's lawyer, £IOOO, which is all her money. When she applied for State relief •■he was curtly told, "Apply to the London Commission before which your son gave evidence.' The Bulgarians will probably be expelled at the end of the week.
