MASKED MAN THREATENS TO SHOOT COMMISSION AGENT LOSES £BO ASSOCIATION TJCLKGB.AM.) WANGANUI, December 28. A fully masked man, armed with a revolver, held up Mr B. Frank Corrigan, a well-known Wanganui commission agent, late on Wednesday night, made him drive his car to a convenient spot, and there relieved him of a sum of money in notes, approximating £BO. Mr Corrigan lives in Brassey road, St. John's Hill, and before midnight drove home. He put his car in the garage when the man appeared and, presenting a revolver, threatened to shoot unless Mr Corrigan got back into the driver's seat. To disobey was out of the question, and keeping his man covered, the stranger made Mr Corrigan drive some yards down the road, and then demanded money. Mr Corrigan parted with the sum mentioned. Later he informed the police. This is the second incident of this nature that has occurred here within the last fortnight. On the last occasion a tramway conductor was held up in the Corporation Tramway offices, and robbed of £3. Similar circumstances surround Wednesday's hold-up, in that the man who carried it off was masked in much the same way. His face and the top of his head were covered with a rough hood-shaped mask. Thieves Disturbed by Policeman. Late on Wednesday night a policeman on his beat looked into the back of the Plaza Picture Theatre, and seeing a man standing there, made investigations. Three men hurriedly disappeared as the officer came near. Marks on a door sug-1 gest that an attempt was being made to force an entry to the theatre, J where thieves would anticipate a big holding of cash in view of the holidays.
