A shipment of Cook Island bananas, and also American grapefruit, lemons and navels, is expected early next week, DUNEDIN (P*ESS ASSOCIATION T*[,SGBAII.) DUNEDIN, December 8. Good supplies of Sturmers and Delicious apples are still arriving from the Canterbury cool stores. The market is a little easier. A small shipment of Canadian apples reached the market. High prices will have to be obtained to pay shippers. Consignments of California!! grape fruit and grapes reached the market. The Wainui from Melbourne brought a small consignment of South Australian Valencia oranges. This shipment has been practically cleared out of the marts, and no further supplies will reach the market until the new season's oranges come on the market in April next. In the meantime the market will be dependent on Californian Valencias; that is, unless the embargo is lifted on the importation of fruit from Victoria, where fair stocks of oranges are still held. The Waikouaiti, due from Sydney early next week, will land a small consignment of pineapples. Bananas are in short supply, and high prices are ruling. A further consignment of Rarotongan grown will arrive in Wellington on Monday ex mail steamer.

Strawberries have been arriving in fairly large quantities, chiefly from the Roxburgh and Waimate districts. The rush of this fruit is now over, and the market is likely to be firm. Many growers have advised that their crops are finished. Ettesburgh is now coming forward. This variety is the last of the strawberry crop to reach the market. Towards the end of the week there was a keen demand for choice quality strawberries. Jam quality, however, was on offer at fairly low rates. Cherries were on ofl'er at low prices throughout the week. Heavy supplies arrived from Canterbury, but these were mostly in poor condition, and had to be placed at low prices. Gooseberries are in heavy supply, and sales were hard to make.
